Kathmandu: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has released a comprehensive list of 71 priority projects slated for immediate implementation during the current fiscal year.

KMC's Chief Administrative Officer, Basanta Adhikari, unveiled the list today, urging all departmental heads to expedite the programs without delay.

The list encompasses a range of initiatives set to be executed promptly, including:

  • Installation of high-mast lights.
  • Launch of digital services.
  • Management of vehicle parking within office premises and the city.
  • Establishment of a health promotion center.
  • Sterilization of stray dogs.
  • Development of monitoring indicators (at infrastructure, ward level, department, project, and program levels).
  • Implementation of Executive Meeting decisions.
  • Tracking the status of Act implementations.
  • Formulation of essential work procedures.
  • Projects of Metropolitan pride and glory.
  • Construction of glass barriers on pedestrian overhead bridges.
  • Regular repair and maintenance of structures like pavements.
  • Enhancement of transport management.
  • Construction of public toilets.
  • Construction of a breastfeeding room at Kathmandu Plaza.

Notably, the KMC distributed a public toilet prototype to all its wards last week, instructing them to construct public toilets as needed. While the KMC has been emphasizing the construction of public toilets at key locations for several years, this initiative has yet to see fruition.

The KMC has allocated a budget of NPR 7 billion 346 million and 471 thousand for the construction of physical structures. These projects collectively aim to enhance the urban infrastructure, services, and living standards within the Kathmandu Metropolitan City
